2025 CMEs Schedule

Hands-on-Training - Laparoscopy

MediWorld through its affiliated hospitals across Bengal will conduct a 20 sessions Hands-on-Training – Laparoscopy course with 1 session per week to develop the necessary skills and confidence to perform minimally invasive procedures, keeping the busy schedule of gynecologists and surgeons in mind.

Hands-on-Training Modules

Theoretical Knowledge:

  • Surgical Principles: Help in grasping fundamental surgical principles, including asepsis, hemostasis, and tissue handling
  • Instrumentation: Familiarity with laparoscopic instruments, their functions, and proper handling
  • Trocar Placement: Mastering the techniques for safe and efficient trocar insertion
  • Surgical Procedures: Knowledge of various laparoscopic procedures, such as tubal ligation, hysterectomy, myomectomy, and ovarian cystectomy

Laboratory Training:

  •  Virtual Reality Simulation: Practicing on virtual reality simulators to develop basic skills like trocar placement and instrument manipulation
  • Demi Models: Performing procedures on demi models to gain hands-on experience in a controlled environment
  • Endo-trainer: Practicing suturing, knot-tying, and other delicate surgical maneuvers on specialized training devices

Clinical Training:

  • Observation: Observing experienced surgeons perform laparoscopic procedures
  • Assisted Procedures: Assisting in surgeries under the supervision of experienced surgeons
  • Proctored Procedures: Performing procedures under the direct supervision of a mentor
  • Independent Procedures: Gradually progressing to independent performance of procedures
